I am doing this for so many reasons. Some of you may relate to those reasons, and some of you may not. This entry may be longer compared to those that follow. I feel there should be some background on me and the purpose of this venture.

History

Neither of my parents caught the outdoor bug to my degree. Both of them enjoyed being outdoors, car camping and my dad fished a little. I have them to thank for introducing me to the excitement that the forest and coast had to offer.

I have been active in the outdoors from a very young age. I never knew why I loved it so much. I would disappear for hours, losing track of time and always dreading having it end. We had three acres near an eighty acre corn field and about a mile from our house was a gravel pit with tadpoles, frogs, fish, deer, turtles and many other animals in the area. I spent virtually all of my free time in these places alone or with friends.

I started out as a child looking for adventure. It continued as a mild obsession when I was a teenager. I would split my time       fishing the local creeks, lakes and rivers, running the whitewater on the North Santiam and Deschutes Rivers, hiking in the Jefferson Wilderness, backpacking for days alone on the Pacific Crest Trail, and climbing almost every peak in Oregon.

As I began to discover work and money, I spent less time in the wilderness. It was natural I suppose, to get a “real job” and start working toward the American Dream. I worked hard for my employers, started a business at 24 years old and successfully sold it 16 years later. I then bought another business that went out of business as the economy tanked. I needed a break in the action after that. I took a month and a half from any activity after closing our business to analyze my losses and ask what it was I really wanted from my life.

I realized that I was still a hard worker and had channeled my sense of adventure into my businesses instead of going into the wilderness. I would teach myself whatever I needed to know to get ahead in business and life. I would learn new systems, management skills, technology, marketing skills and more. I wanted to make money, buy luxury items, take vacations, etc. etc. I was pursuing my dreams.

During this small break from the harried world I had created for myself I discovered four main things I wanted in my next business and for my life.

  1. I wanted a smaller more manageable business in order to have time to do the things that feed my soul.
  2. I wanted to have a business in which I was having impact in assisting people in life/business for their goals and dreams.
  3. I wanted to weave my love of Nature into my life and business and allow Spirit to guide me.
  4. I wanted to live simply.

At 44 years old, I started Sadler Business Coaching to help business people achieve the balance in life I myself so desperately needed as a previous business owner trying to find family time and manage a profitable business .

The Shift

As I began to reconnect on a deeper level with Nature and through classes in ancestral first peoples’ ways of living I discovered a new found appreciation I could not have known as a boy. It was a familiar feeling. It was like coming home after a long absence to a place I felt so complete, so alive.

As always I pursued this connection with passion. The discoveries I have made about myself, the planet, Spirit, friends and family are too numerous to list here.

Here are a few things I uncovered about my life-long attraction to Native Peoples and how they lived.

  1. In 2007 I discovered I was a descendant of the Cherokee People of North Carolina. On a very deep level this answered so many questions I had about who I was and why I was attracted to certain things and places.
  2. I began listening to my intuition more intently. I found teachers and guides to help me with my intuitive skills, Nature observation, animal and plant communication and healing.
  3. I allowed myself to step out of the barrage of doing, information, busy-ness and stress of our daily living regardless of how it may be perceived by others.
  4. I am balanced in the Nature of who I am and I know that all life is linked together by the Creator.

I am committed to being true to who I am and who I am becoming. This may mean some shifts in relationships, geographical locations, and the way I view the world and the world views me.

This is the change that brings the adventure! I am open to that adventure and discovery for me and for you. I am using this platform put the word out that I am available to assist you in the transition from a life of stress to a life of purpose and peace.

Newness

Through my professional coaching skills, awareness guidance, and Nature observation skills, I will help you understand our natural connection for a better understanding of life and your place in it.

I will continue to work with business owners through Sadler Business Coaching. Sadler Wilderness Coaching is for those of you who want to go deeper into what your life purpose is on Earth. Nature connection can happen anywhere; in your yard, a local park or miles out in the wilderness.

“When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.”
– John Muir

So I am offering coaching sessions by phone and in person. Workshops and classes and excursions into Nature to observe things most people would never notice and how it is critically linked to our lives as a Human species.

While I am practiced in the art of wilderness survival skills I am far from an expert. My practice is focused on the Spiritual side of Nature and discovery. We will discuss some wilderness living topics in workshops and one to one coaching in relationship to our connection to the Earth and our ancestors. I can connect you to a few people I learned from that are teaching them well. Just shoot me an email.

I want to thank those of you who have supported me as I work toward launching this new phase of my life. My wife, family, friends, and teachers have been wonderful and I could not be doing this without you! I rely on you all for your guidance.

So! 2012 is here and my goals include launching this very exciting business (this is not going to feel like work!) and to connect on a deeper level with people, and with the world as a whole.

Please feel free to contact me for a sample session by phone and stay tuned to this blog, my FaceBook Page and Twitter for announcements of upcoming events.
